July
2009 “Excellent, quality service As
expected, based on previous reviews, the room we got
was huge (about 3 times the size of regular hotel bedrooms),
spotless and all furniture and appliances were high
quality. Check in was easy and efficient. Receptionist
phoned to book us a table at local restaurant, Fishy
Fishy. We also dined at Jim Edwards Restaurant, on her
recommendation, and both were excellent. Breakfast at
Friars Lodge was of a very high standard, as good as
I have ever had anywhere. I would highly recommend Friars
Lodge to anyone intending to visit KInsale. Superb,
efficient, no fuss"

“Surprisingly Pleasant There were
five of us travelling. We decided to stay at this Guest
House (rather than a small B&B feel) just for a
change of pace. They had all five of us in one room,
which I thought would be rather tight. It was great.
The room was huge, and so was the bathroom! Breakfast
was typical, with a couple of different choices of fish
rather than eggs. That was nice for my husband! Friar's
Lodge sits up on a hill away from the town a bit, but
well within walking distance of the town. The staff
was very nice and helpful. Great value for the money!"

“Good location, bright and spacious room My
husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Friar's Lodge.
It had the feel of a small, cozy hotel with all the
charm and personal touch of a smaller B&B. The room
was large, clean, and bright and had a lovely view over
the rooftops of Kinsale. It was a short walk to the
shops and restauraunts but just far enough off to be
quiet in the evening. We also appreciated that it was
one of the few B&B's we've stayed at that had a
safe in the room for our passports and valuables"

"We stay at the excellent
Friar’s Lodge, a four-star guest house in a quiet
street just behind the main shopping area offering luxurious
accommodation at modest prices.
Owners Finbarr and Maureen
Tierney have run the lodge for seven years and present
the perfect Irish welcome.
Their full Irish breakfast
is not to be missed, though you can opt for the “catch
of the day”, where lodge staff will pop down to
the fish market and bring back the morning’s fresh
haul." Read

of the best guest-housekeeping in the country
"We stayed at Friars
Lodge, a custom built new four star accommodation owned
by the ever-smiling and helpful Maureen Tierney, who
has been in the hospitality business in Kinsale for
a long time and who is always ahead of the posse in
providing for visitors wants.
Maureen provides fine luxury
accommodation and services with 18 lovely, spacious,
hotel style rooms, big beds, suites with minbars, safes,
internet connections, a wine menu for residents and
even a golf club drying room.
There are Stylish lounge
areas in which to relax, and even a decanter of sherry
for a courtesy aperitif before you go out to eat. Oh,
and most importantly in busy kinsale, it has a big private
car park."
