"We stay at the excellent
Friar’s Lodge, a four-star guest house in a quiet
street just behind the main shopping area offering luxurious
accommodation at modest prices.
Owners Finbarr and Maureen
Tierney have run the lodge for seven years and present
the perfect Irish welcome.
Their full Irish breakfast
is not to be missed, though you can opt for the “catch
of the day”, where lodge staff will pop down to
the fish market and bring back the morning’s fresh
haul." Read

"We stayed at Friars
Lodge, a custom built new four star accommodation owned
by the ever-smiling and helpful Maureen Tierney, who
has been in the hospitality business in Kinsale for
a long time and who is always ahead of the posse in
providing for visitors wants.
Maureen provides fine luxury
accommodation and services with 18 lovely, spacious,
hotel style rooms, big beds, suites with minbars, safes,
internet connections, a wine menu for residents and
even a golf club drying room.
There are Stylish lounge
areas in which to relax, and even a decanter of sherry
for a courtesy aperitif before you go out to eat. Oh,
and most importantly in busy kinsale, it has a big private
car park."

“A
great stay with great staff” Jun 30, 2008
I have never written a review before, but felt compelled
after staying this weekend in Friar's Lodge, Kinsale.
On arrival the
woman at reception was extremely friendly and told us
everything we needed to know about, parking, room, facilities,
breakfast etc.
We went to our
room and it was more than just that, it was a suite
- a huge room with beautiful furniture and extremely
clean.
The premises is
right in the heart of Kinsale and has plenty on site
parking.
But the best of
all is yet to come.......... The breakfast! What a feast!
There was everysort of everything that you could ever
want to eat. You definately will not leave here hungry
no matter how fussy you are.
On checking out
we even booked another weekend there. The lady on reception
gave us loads of ideas of where to go for the day and
were to eat etc.
The attention
to deatil is excellent, with choclates being left on
your pillow, a weather card for the next day left in
your room.
Nobody could complain
about Friar's Lodge.
“Great
location, good food” June 22, 2008
I stayed here
with a tour group. Nice newer hotel with very large
rooms. Quick walk to center of Kinsale. Reception area
has nice couches and good books to read about the area
and a free glass of sherry. Very welcoming desk staff.
Breakfast was quite good, especially the smoked salmon
and eggs.
“Lovely place!” June 6 2008
Room was large
and clean! Great location, less than a 5 minute walk
to center of Kinsale. On site parking is a plus!
Would definitely
stay again!

We
were there for 3 nights ,excellent hospitality from
all involved, friendly staff always willing to go the
extra mile ,
lovely breakfasts with a choice to match most 4 star
hotels , lovely big rooms with equally nice big beds
, a choice of pillows,a clean modern and looked after
guest house well worth a visit , young or old.
nice touches are
the free sherry in reception ,weather reports left in
your room and the helpful advice on where and where
not to eat .
all in all excellent
we will return.
“Absolutely
brilliant!” Feb 18, 2008
What a wonderful
stay!
Hotel itself is
right in the middle of kinsale down a quiet side street
with private parking.
Superbly well kept building and rooms, with notable
attention in everything that they could possibly do.
Check in was great,
staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful with great
reccomendations of what to do and where to eat. Room
was huge, with the most comfortable beds and spotless
bathroom.
Best aspect was
the attention to detail, for example...
the offer of different types of pillows for a perfect
night sleep
weather forecast card slipped under the door in the
evening to help plan the next day
guide books in the rooom
Breakfast was
best that we had the whole holiday, great variety and
superb presentation.
Value for money-wise, one of the best hotels we have
ever stayed in and would reccomend it to anyone for
a perfect stay.
Thank you to all of the staff.
